The St. Luke Foundation is a native, Haitian, benevolent organization which both helps those in immediate need, and empowers people whose lives are plagued by poverty and its deadly effects, by enabling community development and helping people determine their own future.
The St. Luke Foundation is part of the centuries old tradition of the Roman Catholic Church called corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Simply and beautifully stated, this means “faith in action,” for the betterment of the poor and the betterment of the world. All aspects of the work of the St. Luke Foundation, financial and operational, are carried out in full independence of Church and State.
San Gennaro Foundation
ABF Voices of Italy - Naples
In Naples, our partner is the San Gennaro Community Foundation, an organization deeply rooted in the Rione Sanità neighborhood and committed to combating educational poverty and fostering the neighborhood’s social regeneration. The San Gennaro Community Foundation pursues civic, solidarity-based, and socially beneficial goals, operating primarily in areas of general interest to promote the community’s well-being and development. Its work primarily focuses on strengthening social cohesion by promoting active citizen participation and supporting processes of inclusion, mutual aid, and shared responsibility within the local community. Significant attention is also devoted to education and training, with initiatives specifically aimed at children and young people to foster personal growth, skill acquisition, and the prevention of social hardship.
The Foundation also recognizes the value of local historical, artistic, and cultural heritage as a strategic resource for fostering sustainable social and economic development, supporting its preservation and enjoyment by the community. Among its priority objectives is promoting employment integration and the social economy by creating job opportunities and supporting civil economy initiatives, with particular attention to disadvantaged individuals. At the same time, the Foundation carries out initiatives to combat poverty and promote social inclusion, supporting individuals and families in situations of economic and social vulnerability and fostering paths toward self-sufficiency and integration. The Foundation’s commitment also extends to the sustainable development of the local area, through the implementation of urban and social regeneration processes that enhance local resources while respecting environmental, economic, and cultural sustainability.
The Magnificat Institute of Jerusalem
ABF Voices of Jerusalem
The Magnificat Institute of Jerusalem, founded and managed by the Custody of the Holy Land, is a music school with a long and recognized educational tradition in the heart of Jerusalem’s Old City. The Institute is a unique place for artistic and human formation, where children and young people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds study and grow together through music, fostering daily dialogue and coexistence.
The Custody of the Holy Land, which has been present for centuries in the territories of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, is an institution deeply rooted in the local context, committed to preserving cultural heritage and to developing educational and social initiatives that serve the communities. Through the Magnificat Institute, the Custody supports educational programs that use music as a tool for connection, inclusion, and personal growth.
The partnership with the Magnificat Institute and the Custody of the Holy Land provides ABF Voices of Jerusalem with a solid educational foundation, in-depth knowledge of the region, and a pedagogical approach attuned to the cultural and social specificities of young people from East Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The Foundation’s intervention model is based on continually listening to the local community and identifying emerging needs, with the goal of matching the community’s needs to the resources available within it. In this way, the principles of solidarity, sustainability, and active citizenship are promoted.
The African SOUP
ABF Voices of Uganda
The African SOUP is a Ugandan-led, non-governmental organization with roots in rural Nabikabala Village, where we serve nearly 900 children and 170 families with community-designed programs that are creating lasting solutions to poverty and fueling a push for national education reform.
Founded in 2009 and named after the fable of the stone soup – in which hungry villagers come together to make a collective feast – The African SOUP works alongside the local community to address its most vital needs. In addition to an exemplary primary and nursery school, we facilitate community outreach programs that support improved health and nutrition as well as economic empowerment, scholarships to further education, and the creation of a national project aimed at empowering students and teachers with the critical, creative, and ethical thinking skill sets to ensure leadership growth in Uganda.
