In consistency with the mission of ABF in Haiti has been formed a choir of sixty elements, aged from 9 to 15, selected among over twelve thousand students attending the schools active on the Island thanks to the ABF – St. Luc System.
“Voices of Haiti” is a permanent Haitian choir. The performances of the choir are held in important moments of celebration, from Easter to the end of the school academic year both in Haiti and internationally. The repertoire is a mixture between folk Haitian and international music.
The Choir members, as well as of the students of the ABF – ST Luc System, live in the poorest areas of the Island. Most of the “Voices of Haiti” children come from the Citè Soleil slums where over 300.000 people live in tin shack houses, without any access to water and sanitation.
Through this project, which, from the beginning was set up as a highly structured and stable, educational reality, the Choir members have been able to enhance their talent thanks to a highly specialized training, benefitting also from a wealth of educational, cultural and existential opportunities potentially precious for their future. The ultimate aim is to reinforce the students’ real abilities, to stimulate their creativity and to offer them more outlets to succeed in life.
